SUN DANCE

SUN DANCE

Interactive Land Art Sculpture. Permanent installation In the heart of the Mexican desert.

20 feet wide by 9 feet high and 6 feet deep. Cement and Weathering Steel.

Franz Klainsek's prayer to the Sun translates into a sculpture made to facilitate conscious human interaction with the Sun.

Created to come together as Land, Man, and Sun.” — Franz Klainsek

Sun Dance land art sculpture honors the indigenous ceremony held by the Aboriginal Peoples of North America for thousands of years. Gathered as a tribe, they bring a sacrifice to the universe and the Sun. It is this work that is created for one simple yet profound reason — being one with the source, as we gaze into the vastness of the creator.

The Permanent Interactive installation is created in the heart of the Mexican Desert. The Land Art sculpture initiates a series of Earthworks and Land Art by Franz Klainsek on the land. 9,000 acres (known as el Tinieblo) will be transformed into a Land Art exhibition by the artist. Sun Dance (cement and weathering steel, 20 feet wide by 9 feet high, 6 feet deep) marks the initiation of this Land Art project by the artist.

"9000 acres of realness as my canvas. I will create on the largest of scales. I will dig into the earth and the elements it's blessed us with. I will build with the natives who live in unity with the Earth. One of my passion projects in the making.

I will never allow myself to get comfortable. I will keep pushing the limits of growth and expansion in materials and mediums to explore and use."

- Franz Klainsek

The Earthworks and Land Art Installations by Franz Klainsek were initiated in 2019. The first sculpture was completed January 2021. A Land Art project on the grounds of México surrounded by wild animals and agave, empowered by the Sun.
